FFOTR First Screenshots

Here are some very very early first screenshots of FFOTR. Hope you like them or feel free to hate them too... but leave a comment about them :) Yes, they are small and bad quality and that's how they're intended because this is work in progress.

DevZoo going Indie!

YeeeeHa!

Ok, it has been quite a while since I've posted anything. I had very good reasons though. I've been learning to play guitar with quite some success and recently started programming. . .

Book Tip: ZBrush Character Creation: Advanced Digital Sculpting

ZBrush Character Creationfrom Scott Spencer

Brilliant Book! It talks about the basics too but it rather aims at the more advanced users who wish to enhance their digital sculpting techniques. With lots of insight from scene masters like Zack Petroc. Who doesen't know Gentle Gigant Studios, Scott Spencer or Zack Petroc -> Google the names and you'll find cool stuff!

Sadly there are a few flaws to the version I got. Some quite obvious print errors have been made by the publisher. So some images have swaped descriptions and on page 20 for example a listing stops and continues a few pages later in an other listing on page 24. They are all quite obvious issues and you'll notice them so I don't mind.

Book Tip: Tino Graß schriftgestalten

Tino Graß_Schriftgestalten

The book "schriftgestalten" from Tino Graß is a real eye catcher. I found it during my study.

It is a German book about font design. How do you create a font? Why are new fonts being created? Why are there good and bad fonts? How do you use a font? What are the elemental things about a good font?

Book Tip: Animators Survival Kit

Book Cover from Amazon.com

This is one of the best books about Animation. A nice piece of knowledge. Quick guidence for professionals and anyone curious about animation. With lots of Images and text to the most common, mostly human, movements like walking, running, jumping and many more.

No matter if traditional or digital animation is your goal, it's about the foundation of animating characters in general. An absolute must-have for anyone working in this sector.

New Weblink - 11 Second Club

11secondlogo

As I searched the Internet for news and tips about Animation I found this website:

The 11 Second Club holds a monthly competition for animation. You get 11 seconds of sound and can animate what ever you want to it. Traditional, Stop-Motion and CG (Computer Grafics) or any other sort of animation are allowed. But everyone who isn't even into animating can find something on this site. You can see all the old entrys and there are quite a few funny ones!

Color shemes for DeV-ZoO

shadowskill

I'm thinking about the color sheme for the site now and here are a few of my current favorites. I Created them by duplicating a horizontal pixelrow out of any image. They should give a feeling for different color styles.

Stack

»Stack« is the name of a headline font, consisting of 54 characters. Each of them is based on the shape of a rounded square.

The square has been chosen for the character set as the initial form of the writing grid, because the abstract-looking alphabet of the Stack would only work the most compact and rigorous basic form.
